Giants RT Newhouse expects to play Saturday against Jets

Published Aug. 28, 2015 10:03 a.m. ET

Earlier this week, New York Giants projected starting right tackle Marshall Newhouse was forced from practice with a scary looking injury. With his left ankle heavily wrapped, things were looking grim. In the end, it turned out to be nothing more than Newhouse getting his ankle stepped on and he expects to play this Saturday against the Jets

"It was pretty scary," he said, per Tom Rock of Newsday. "I got stepped on while I was engaged in a block and went down. It was scary but I think all is well. It was an accident. It happens."

With Newhouse back in the mix, the Giants could have their entire first team offensive line ready to roll for the regular season dress rehearsal. Of course, that would require center Weston Richburg coming back in time to play. His status is uncertain, and based on the Giants' recent track record with rushing players back from injury, they might want to hold him out of this one.
