Giants' OT Will Beatty undergoes successful surgery

Published May. 21, 2015 11:43 a.m. ET

On Wednesday, the New York Giants learned that starting left tackle Will Beatty tore his pectoral muscle while lifting weights on Tuesday. According to Michael Eisen of Giants.com, Beatty underwent successful surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle last evening at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. His expected recovery time is five to six months, and this would project him to return to the football field sometime in November.

Beatty was arguably the Giants' best offensive lineman in 2014. According to Pro Football Focus, Beatty was the only Giants offensive lineman with 100 or more snaps to finish with a positive overall blocking grade in 2014. Beatty finished as Pro Football Focus' 14th-best left or right offensive tackle overall in the NFL.

Beatty will see his consecutive games played streak of 46 snapped when Week 1 rolls around. The Giants will likely place Beatty on the physically unable to perform list in hopes that he can return and make an impact later in the season.
