Gates, Mathews, Naanee inactive for Chargers

Star tight end Antonio Gates is inactive for Monday night's game against the Denver Broncos with a painful torn plantar fascia in his right foot.

Gates also missed a game at Houston on Nov. 7 with the injury.

Also inactive for the Chargers are rookie running back Ryan Mathews, wide receiver Legedu Naanee and backup tight end Kris Wilson. Naanee is missing his fifth straight game.

Randy McMichael, who caught two touchdown passes from Philip Rivers in the win at Houston, is starting for Gates. Mike Tolbert is starting for Mathews.

Broncos inactives include running back Laurence Maroney.
