Former Dallas Cowboy quarterback Quincy Carter has been arrested in connection with the alleged battery of his girlfriend, the Georgia-based Gwinnett Daily Post reported Friday.

A police report showed that officers responded to the Lawrenceville, Ga. home of Carter’s girlfriend in the early hours of October 5 and she complained that he had punched and choked her.

A warrant was taken out for Carter -- who played quarterback at the University of Georgia from 1998-2000 and then with the Dallas Cowboys before stints in the Canadian and arena leagues -- that night.

Carter, 33, was arrested on October 15 before being released on a $6,596 bond.

After leading Dallas to the playoffs in 2003, Carter was released in 2004 for failing a drug test and attitude problems, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.

He started three games for the New York Jets in 2004 but was released following more problems with drugs.
