Floyd churns out another 100-yard game as Cardinals reach playoffs

Michael Floyd opened the season trying to recuperate from surgery on three dislocated fingers.

Three months later, Floyd has emerged as an invaluable member of the Arizona Cardinals' vaunted wide receiver corps and a big reason why the team has posted back-to-back 11-win seasons for the first time in franchise history.

Floyd continued his late-season resurgence by reeling in five passes for a team-high 102 yards and a touchdown as the Cardinals wrapped up a playoff berth with a 23-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

It marked the fourth 100-yard performance in five games for Floyd, with the only blip during that stretch coming when he was limited by a hamstring injury and saw part-time duty against San Francisco on Nov. 29.

Floyd's 42-yard touchdown in the third quarter - helped by Larry Fitzgerald's crushing block - put the Cardinals ahead 17-10 and he added a huge 22-yard reception to set up Chandler Catanzaro's game-winning field goal.

"He made an exceptional block," Floyd told reporters in praising fellow wideout Fitzgerald. "I'm more happy for the block than the whole touchdown."

Through the five games this season, Floyd had a total of eight catches for 104 yards. As he got healthy, he hauled in five touchdown passes in a four-game stretch before injuring the hamstring.

Floyd got back on track with a seven-catch, 104-yard effort in Sunday's victory at St. Louis and showed no ill effects from the hamstring by burning the Vikings four days later.
