Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 3: RB Matt Forte
Heading into Fantasy Football Week 3, running back Matt Forte should be benched when going up against the defense of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last week for the New York Jets, running back Matt Forte completely ran wild against the defense of the Buffalo Bills. For you lucky fantasy football owners out there that started him in Week 2, you undoubtedly had a huge smile on your face last week.
Against the Bills, Forte totaled 100 rushing yards, 30 attempts, and three touchdowns. Forte silenced all his critics that thought he was past his prime and couldn’t get the job done anymore. There is still a lot of gas left in his tank as he will continue to showcase his unique skill-set all season long with the Jets.

Unfortunately heading into his Week 3 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, Forte won’t replicate the havoc he caused last week. Even head coach Todd Bowles said that the Jets will more than likely reduce his workload throughout the season. Here is what he said courtesy of the Media Relations Department of the Jets:
On if keeping Forte healthy and requires reducing his workload…
I don’t think he’s going to get 30 carries every game. That’s going to be different every game. So somebody else is going to have to step up weekly, be it run the ball or throwing the ball. He just got it this game. The workload I’m sure won’t be the same. There will be more people chipping in.

Expect to see Forte get lesser reps against the Chiefs as the Jets will spread the love around when it comes to their other running backs.
Considering that running back Bilal Powell has yet to really take off this season for the Jets, look for him to get the majority of reps in this matchup.
While Forte will still see playing time, fantasy owners should bench him this week.
It’s a hard decision to make considering how Forte went off last week but make no mistake about it, it won’t be happening again this time around.
Fantasy owners should consider going with another running back this week or if Powell is also in your lineup, go with him instead.
Overall, fantasy owners would be wise heading in a different direction this week when it comes to RB1 when considering to go with Forte again. It’s not worth it, especially since he’ll more than likely see a reduced workload and the Chiefs’ defense is stout against the run. Sit Forte heading into Week 3 to avoid a major disappointment.
