Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 10: WR Brandon Marshall

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

When it comes to Week 10 of Fantasy Football, wide receiver Brandon Marshall of the New York Jets serves as a safe sit against the Los Angeles Rams.

The New York Jets host the Los Angeles Rams for a home bout during Week 10 of football. The Jets offense as well as their defense, have been painful to watch since the start of the season. Coming off of a 27-23 road loss against the Miami Dolphins last week, the Jets will look to salvage what’s left of their season with a Week 10 victory against the Rams before their bye Week. Should fantasy football owners trust wide receiver Brandon Marshall this week?

As noted previously, the Jets offense has been absolutely atrocious. They rank as the 26th offense in the league with 226.3 passing yards per game. They are 23rd in total yards per game with 339.8 and 27th in points per game with 19.2. The Rams defense, however, ranks anywhere between the 8th-11th best defense in all categories. Their defense ranks as the 8th best defense in points allowed per game with 330.9 and 9th in passing yards allowed per game with 232.2. They are 11th in points allowed per game with 20.9 and rushing yards allowed with 98.6.

To get into the grand scheme of things, bench Marshall this week in fantasy football. According to NFL.com, the veteran wide out ranks as the 26th best receiver in fantasy football. Marshall has recorded three double-digit performances through nine weeks of football.

According to SportingCharts.com, Marshall ranks as the third leading receiver in the NFL in dropped passes on the season. However, despite being ranked as third, he’s tied with Mike Evans and Marvin Jones Jr. who both are ranked as the top two receivers in dropped passes with six.

With Ryan Fitzpatrick‘s status as a starter for Week 10 up in the air due to a sprained MCL, second-year quarterback Bryce Petty could be inline for his first regular-season start of his career. Marshall will be the Jets No.1 receiver heading into Week 10 despite whoever the starter is, however, he still serves as a safe sit in all fantasy leagues this week.

Overall, bench Marshall as the veteran receiver has been averaging anywhere between 3.90-7.00 points in the past four weeks in standard leagues.
