Falcons OL Jones stretchered off practice field, taken to hospital

A sobering moment occurred on Sunday when Falcons offensive lineman Terren Jones was stretchered off the field and placed in an ambulance after sustaining an undisclosed injury.

Jones, a second-year tackle from Alabama State, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for what is believed to be a head injury, FOX Sports 1’s Alex Marvez reported.

Falcons coach Mike Smith says the second-year player was released from Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Monday night with a concussion.

The 6-foot-7, 341-pounder had his eyes closed while he was loaded onto the back of a golf cart, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He reportedly was kicked in the head during a training drill and is now going in to the concussion protocol program.

"We certainly hope Terren will be all right," Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday. ... Any time a player doesn't leave the field on his own power you are always concerned."

After going undrafted in 2013, Jones inched his way onto the active squad last season after shedding nearly 40 pounds.

Another injury occurred prior to Jones' when rookie defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman swung at center Joe Hawley in a scuffle. Hageman injured his wrist in the altercation but X-rays confirmed later that he had not fractured it.
