Dwayne Allen: Colts' season 'a test of our character as a team'

As the Colts enter Week 14 tied with the Houston Texans for first place in the AFC South with a 6-6 record, the team recognizes the results this season have been a long way from what most expected from a team dubbed a Super Bowl contender entering the season.

Indianapolis, which has dealt with both ineffectiveness and injuries, most notably to star quarterback Andrew Luck, has now lost more than five games for the first time since Luck joined the team in 2012.

"This is different," tight end Dwayne Allen said, per ESPN. "We’ve never experienced this. We believe it’s a test of our character as a team and organization. Are we going to fold it up? Or are we going to dig down and go out there and do what we need to do to get in the playoffs?"

Despite the struggles this season, the Colts still control their own playoff destiny. Head coach Chuck Pagano said Monday making the postseason what counts, with all the team's goals still in reach.

"No matter how you get in, you can run in, you can limp in, the whole idea is to get in," Pagano said. "Then somebody is going to get hot and get things rolling."

The Colts travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars on Sunday.
