Dolphins' Jay Ajayi wins 2nd consecutive weekly honor
Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi became only the 4th player in NFL history to rush for over 200 yards in back to back games. And he was rewarded for it.

Today the NFL announced that Ajayi has won the AFC offensive player of the week award for the 2nd consecutive week. Unfortunately Ajayi will not get a chance at making it a three-peat. The Dolphins are on a bye this week.
Ajayi’s feat is still impressive and he is in elite company. Whether Ajayi can do it again in two weeks against the Jets is highly unlikely but Ajayi is doing a lot of this on his own.
The Dolphins offensive line has definitely gotten better with the return of Mike Pouncey and a healthy Branden Albert but most of Ajayi’s yards have come after initial contact which means he is showing more power to take hits and continue moving forward instead of just breakaway speed which he somewhat lacks.
Against Pittsburgh Ajayi logged run totals of 62, 33, 20, 14, and 12 yards. Against the Bills he had a 53 yard run but no other run was more than 17 yards. He even missed almost two series with a cramped leg.
Ajayi is finding his rythym for the first time in his career and the Dolphins are realizing that they can rely upon him as an every down back.
