Dolphins HC Joe Philbin denies report that Ndamukong Suh freelanced
Following a very disappointing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, there was a report that Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh ignored coaches' play calls and "freelanced" on the field.
According to Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin, that report is inaccurate after watching game tape from Sunday.
"There’s a report that Ndamukong Suh was freelancing out there on the field," Philbin said via the Sun Sentinel. "I just watched the entire tape with the entire defensive staff. I didn’t see anything of the sort, so I’m not sure where that came from."
If Suh did freelance, it didn't seem to make him more productive. He recorded just one tackle and has no sacks this season. The entire Dolphins' defense struggled against the Jaguars, despite allowing just 23 points. Philbin, for one, isn't worried about his $114 million defensive tackle, though.
"A lot of times they’ve been running away from him a lot," Philbin said. "That’s certainly been the case for a couple of weeks. He was actually, I thought, closer to plays this week than last week. He made some improvements in that area."
Suh and the Dolpins' defense will get a shot at redemption against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday -- a team that put up 32 points against the New England Patriots.
