Dolphins claim former Giants DE Damontre Moore off waivers

The Miami Dolphins added to their pass rush on Monday, claiming former New York Giants defensive end Damontre Moore off waivers, according to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo. The move won't be official until Tuesday because the claim occurred on a game day.

Moore, a third-round pick in 2013, was released by the Giants on Friday in what was somewhat of a surprising move. He was reportedly upset about not receiving headphones like the rest of the team, though it wasn't the only reason for the Giants cutting him.

He's recorded just 8 1/2 sacks in three seasons in the league, all of which came in the last two seasons. He has 66 career tackles and two forced fumbles, while he's also batted down three passes.

He joins Quinton Coples as the latest pass rusher to join the Dolphins this season, both of which were surprisingly cut by their former teams. Like the Giants, the Dolphins also run a 4-3 defense, so Moore's role won't change all that much.
