Dolphins at Patriots: Highlights, score, and recap

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

A live look-in on the Dolphins at Patriots in Week 2 NFL action.

As of now, quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s day is trending downwards. And his defense isn’t helping him out much either. He has just four yards passing as of five minutes into the second quarter and Miami has gone three and out on every drive of the game.

The defense has been on the field way too long and Jimmy Garoppolo is picking apart this defense at ease. Their approach to this game was similar to the one they took last week, they’ve aired it out a bit more here early on but they’re sticking with the high percentage throws which is boosting Garoppolo’s confidence through the roof.

Miami can’t afford to drop to 0-2, and if that’s the case, kiss  goodbye to any chance they have on making the playoffs. They don’t look like a well-coached team, these two teams look light years apart as far as foundation goes. Bill Belichick puts his players in the best position to thrive but the same can’t be said for Adam Gase, the Dolphins head coach.

Running back Arian Foster looks like he’s done and is injured with a groin injury, despite the play of the offensive line. Backup running bac Jay Ajayi will see more snaps in the second half but establishing the run at this point is more or less pointless as New England is up 21-0 midway through the second quarter. New England has scored a touchdown on three of their four drives and undoubtedly in the drivers seat here on Sunday. Let’s get to some of these highlights for the Patriots and Dolphins.

Highlights

Three Stars

This is a prediction for the stars of the game.

1-Jimmy Garoppolo

Already with three touchdowns in his first three drives, Garoppolo has been on fire. Cameron Wake just sacked him as I speak, but a penalty negated the sack. It’s been that kind of day for Miami. Garoppolo is lighting this defense on fire.

2-Martellus Bennett

The tight end has caught two balls for 46 yards and a touchdown. Without Gronkowski, this offense is relying on Bennett to make plays and he’s rewarding them. No linebacker can cover him for the Dolphins, and putting a safety on him is a size mismatch.

3-LeGarrette Blount

While the Pats were 30th in running the ball a year ago, this game looks to be just about over barring a miracle from Tannehill. Blount already has nine touches which is a lot for a New England running back in one half of play. They’ll use him to run clock in the latter portion of this game.

Odds

The Pats were six-point favorites in the game according to Oddshark.

Next Week

New England will remain at home as they take on the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. For the Dolphins, they’ll head home for their first home game of the year against the Browns.
