Derrick Henry rushes for first career touchdown (Video)
Titans rookie running back Derrick Henry scored his first career touchdown in the second quarter against the Jaguars. Expect a lot more to come for the former Alabama back.
Up by ten points on Thursday night, The Tennessee Titans decided to give Derrick Henry a full drive as the featured back. He did not disappoint.
After a couple impressive powerful runs to gain first downs, Henry was handed the ball on a 3rd and one at the six yard line. After seeing no room up the middle, he bounced outside for the easy six yard score.
Number 22 showed off his impressive speed on the run, beating multiple Jaguars defending to the corner. His combination of power and speed is truly impressive to watch, and is a combo few backs have. Alfred Morris, LeGarrette Blount, and Frank Gore are some that come to mind, and all three have had very good years in the NFL. If Henry continues to work on his pass catching and blitz pick up, he will be a starter before long.

Listed at 6’2, 247-pounds, Henry’s measurables show he is a big back. Watching him live is a whole different story. Every time he carries the ball it appears that the coaches are trying some trick play with a defensive end carrying the ball. A weight of 247 is probably underestimating how big the former Heisman Trophy winner is.
Rushing for an incredible 28 touchdowns and 2,219 yards at Alabama last season, Henry outpaced superstar Ezekiel Elliott in both categories. Still, Elliott was taken high in the first round, while Henry lasted until the second when the Titans scooped him up.
Though Demarco Murray will continue to be the featured back as long as he’s healthy, Henry should see more and more touches as the season wears on. As the Titans continue to pummel the Jaguars, maybe Henry can see his second career touchdown tonight as well.
