Demar Dotson, Lavonte David set to be the next two Bucs to get paid
Demar Dotson and Lavonte David are both set to head into 2015 training camp without new deals, but that may not be the case for very long. According to Roy Cummings of The Tampa Tribune, both Dotson and David could be set for new deals soon.
While we know Dotson was originally set to hold out, general manager Jason Licht seems confident that a holdout won't happen.
“Demar and I talked after he came back to work for our (mandatory) minicamp in June, and while no promises were made by us, I think we have a good understanding of where we stand,’’ Licht told The Tampa Tribune.
As for David? Well, Licht has no intention of letting one of his top defensive players leave town anytime soon either.
“Lavonte is a model player, a cornerstone of this franchise,” Licht said. “And it is our intention to make sure that he’s a part of this organization for years to come.”
It's good to hear that both players should be in Tampa for the long haul, but here's to hoping a deal gets done for both sooner than later.
