Darren Sproles checks in on the NFL's top 100 player list at No. 81 overall

It didn't take long for Philadelphia Eagles fans to realize they got the better end of a 2014 offseason trade that netted them Darren Sproles for a fifth-round draft pick. After a couple injury-riddled and subpar seasons for Sproles' standards, he experienced a major bounce back season in Chip Kelly's offensive scheme and on special teams. Fans weren't the only ones who took notice. Sproles was named, solely by his peers, as the 81st-best player in the NFL in 2014.

Sproles racked up 1,238 total yards from scrimmage in 2014. He added six rushing touchdowns and two punt return touchdowns. He contributed on the ground, in the passing game and in the return game. He was also very effective on a per-touch basis with averages of 5.77 yards per carry and 9.67 yards per reception. He only saw 6.4 touches per game, but Kelly told the Philadelphia Inquirer in March that he is looking to get Sproles on the field more. After signing DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews in free agency, there's a good chance that we end up chalking that up to coach speak.
