Damon Harrison claims he is the NFL's top nose tackle
The New York Jets have a lot of talent on the defensive line. Some could argue that their defensive line could be one of the best units in the NFL. Headlining that line is Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson. Joining Wilkerson and Richardson on the line is rookie Leonard Williams and nose tackle Damon Harrison.
While the Wilkerson, Richardson and Williams are household names but Harrison isn't as well known. During an interview with NFL.com's Conor Orr, Harrison thinks that will change, especially since he believes he is one of the top players at his position in the entire league.
"If you would have asked me after my first year starting about how I am as a player, I would have given you a humble answer. Not too confident but humble. But when you ask me now, I feel like I'm the best nose tackle in football.
"If you look at a nose tackle's job description, nobody does it better than me and I'm confident in saying that. I've watched Vince Wilfork my entire life. Dontari Poe, Haloti Ngata even though he moves around. Paul Soliai, I watch everyone because you can always take something from someone. But it's my time now."
Harrison will be entering his fourth season with the Jets in 2015 and he is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this year. It will be an interesting offseason for the Jets as they also need to work out a new contract for Harrison's linemate, Muhammad Wilkerson.
