On Sunday, the Dallas cowboys defeated the San Francisco 49ers on the road in a come from behind victory, 24-17. Down 14 early in the first half, the Cowboys battled back to tie the game by halftime.
Dallas outscored the Niners 10-3 in the second half to win the game. Looking back, we’ll try to assign a grade for each of the Cowboys offensive stars following the hard fought victory.
Dak Prescott
QB, DallasCowboys
Prescott completed 23 of his 32 passes for 245 yards and threw for two touchdowns. Although the rookie struggled with accuracy on some of his passes, he once again failed to throw a single interception.
Down 14 points early in the first half, Prescott brought the Cowboys back to tie the game at 14 by halftime. The 23-year continues to play with the poise and patience of a seasoned veteran.
The more challenges presented to Prescott, the easier the game seems to get for the young signal caller.
Oct 2, 2016; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (21) celebrates after making a first down conversion during the fourth quarter against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi
Ezekiel Elliott
RB, Dallas Cowboys
Elliott recorded 138 rushing yards on 23 carries, averaging 6.0 yards per carry. He also posted his third touchdown on the ground this season.
After a slow start at the beginning of the year, the fourth overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft is now running with patience and purpose behind the Cowboys dominate offensive line.
Expect similar games moving forward from the star running back that is now in game shape after only getting a total of seven carries in the preseason due to hamstring issues.
Oct 2, 2016; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brice Butler (19) catches a pass for a touchdown in front of San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock (26) during the second quarter at Levi
Brice Butler
WR, Dallas Cowboys
Starting in place for injured All-Pro wide receiver Dez Bryant, Butler recorded five catches for 41 yards and a score against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon.
It was a solid performance for the 26-year old receiver whom had only posted one reception for 16 yards before the Cowboys come from behind victory in Week Four.
But Butler had a taunting penalty and a dropped touchdown pass that could have cost the Cowboys the game. Hence his B- grade.
If the talented receiver wants to have more days like the one he had on Sunday, Butler will have to prove he can be more consistent as he was plagued by dropped passes, catching just five of his nine targets against the 49ers.
Oct 2, 2016; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams (83) falls to the ground after a catch while defended by San Francisco 49ers safety Antoine Bethea (41) during the second quarter at Levi
Terrance Williams
WR, DallasCowboys
In Week One, Williams failed to get out of bounds in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter, allowing the clock to run out for a possible game-winning field goal attempt against the New York Giants.
The following week, the former Baylor Bear was held without a single target. In Week Three against the Chicago Bears, Williams turned the ball over on a fumble following a 47-yard reception.
Against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Williams was solid recording four receptions for 44 yards and his first touchdown on the season.
Without Dez Bryant in the game, the former third round pick was often able to provide an open target for rookie quarterback Dak Prescott against the Niners defensive secondary.

Cole Beasley
WR, DallasCowboys
As rookie quarterback Dak Prescott’s favorite target, Beasley had recorded 20 catches for 216 yards coming into the Cowboys road game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Without All-Pro receiver Dez Bryant on the field, the Niners defense keyed on Beasley. That allowed other receivers like Terrance Williams and Brice Butler to excel.
Beasley caught three of his four targets for 66 yards against the 49ers in Sunday’s win. His final catch, a screen pass that went for 47 yards late in the fourth quarter, sealed the victory for Dallas.
October 2, 2016; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten (82) is tackled by San Francisco 49ers safety Antoine Bethea (41) during the third quarter at Levi
Jason Witten
TE, DallasCowboys
During Sunday’s victor over the San Francisco 49ers, Witten once again proved why he is a future Hall of Famer. Mr. Reliable, the Cowboys stoic leader had seven catches for 47 yards, leading the team in receptions.
Although none of his catches went for more than eight yards, Witten’s consistent presence was an comforting outlet for his rookie quarterback, Dak Prescott. The veteran tight end is a stabilizing force on a Dallas team that has several inexperienced players in key positions.
Every team needs a leader like Witten on it. The Cowboys are lucky to have him.
Those are our grades for some of the Dallas Cowboys offensive stars following Sunday’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers. What are yours? List your offensive grades for the Cowboys below in our comment section and tell us why they may differ from ours. Thanks for reading!
