Cowboys Jason Garrett on Dez Bryant: 'He's not quite himself'

For anyone who has watched the Dallas Cowboys since wide receiver Dez Byant returned from a broken foot this season, it's easy to tell that the star receiver is not playing at the level he is accustomed to. On Monday, head coach Jason Garrett confirmed that Bryant is still not quite 100 percent healthy.

"He's done some good things," Garrett said of Bryant, per the Dallas News. "He's not quite himself, but he's working hard to getting back to 100 percent.''

Garrett applauded Bryant's ability to fight through various injuries and suit up for games, but he also hopes that Bryant will be more consistent going forward.

"He's done a good job of getting himself ready to play in games as he's dealing with a number of different injuries,'' Garrett said. "It's a tribute to his competitive spirit and what he's all about his mental and physical toughness.

"But when you watch him play, he'd be the first one to tell you that he needs to become more refined in everything that he's doing. Typically that comes with the work that you get in practice. So we'll keep working with him on that so hopefully that shows up on a more consistent basis in the game."

Garrett is confident that Bryant can get back to his all-pro form, but it's going to take a few changes in his current practice schedule.

"Absolutely it's achievable,'' Garrett said about Bryant's chances of returning to form in 2015.

"I think the best way to answer that question is simply if we can get him back into a mode of practicing on that consistent basis and playing week after week, he'll go back to being himself and playing at that high level on a consistent basis.''
