Cowboys coach Jason Garrett explains the massive scratch on his face
The Dallas Cowboys are riding a six-game winning streak and have a two-game lead over the Philadelphia Eagles after Sunday night’s win. Everything is going the Cowboys way. So why did head coach Jason Garrett look like he’d been through a prizefight in the postgame news conference?
Garrett explained the cause for the massive scratch on his face during his appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Monday, citing a postgame hug with tight end Jason Witten.
Emotions were obviously running high after the Cowboys’ thrilling overtime win, but how did a hug cause that kind of blemish?
"I think we had a big hug afterwards, and he had a helmet on and I didn't," Garrett told the station, via the Dallas Morning News. "It was pretty emotional out there. I think everybody was excited about it. Everybody kept looking at it like, 'Coach, I think you've got a little something going on your face there.'"
"It was well worth it."
With the way this season has gone for the Cowboys, it’s tough to argue with Garrett.
