ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) The Indianapolis Colts claimed cornerback Tevin Mitchel off waivers Thursday and waived safety Robert Smith.

Mitchel was Washington's sixth-round draft pick this spring. After the 6-foot, 190-pound Arkansas alum injured his shoulder, the Redskins put him on the waived-injured list Wednesday. Mitchel is expected to miss the entire season.

At Arkansas, Mitchel started 29 of 42 games and finished his career with 157 tackles and four interceptions.

Indy signed Smith as an undrafted rookie in May. He had 182 tackles and four interceptions in 53 career games at Clemson.
