Colin Cowherd sees Tom Brady ending his career with the Dallas Cowboys
Radio personality Colin Cowherd wouldn’t be shock if New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady joined the Dallas Cowboys to end his career.
Following the Dallas Cowboys regular season opening defeat at the hands of their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants, questions still remain when it comes to the quarterback position. Although rookie quarterback Dak Prescott played admirably in the place of injured starter Tony Romo, his production didn’t match the hype from his preseason outings.
In New England, they had a similar situation under center. With starting quarterback Tom Brady suspended due to Deflategate, third-year back-up Jimmy Garoppolo helped to led the Patriots to victory against a stout Cardinals defense in Arizona. With a 39-year old Brady sidelined, and the play of Garoppolo in Week One, some think the veteran quarterback could be on his way out of New England soon.
If Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick decided to part ways with his three-time Super Bowl MVP before his massive six-year, $91 million contract expires in 2020, where would Brady land? Radio personality Colin Cowherd believes the Dallas cowboys could be the answer.
“[Tom] Brady is going to leave New England and he’s going to have his choice of where to go in a quarterback league,” said Cowherd on his radio show The Herd on Tuesday. “And he’s going to go somewhere with good players and good coaches. How about the Dallas Cowboys once Dak Prescott fails? Dak Prescott fails, and he will. Let’s be honest here. It’s not going to work. I’m telling you, Dallas is perfect. He’s going to walk up and go ‘Alright, I see your offensive line. I get Dez [Bryant] for two years. I get Ezekiel Elliott…I’ll go to Dallas.”
Cowherd went on to point towards the Cowboys popularity and regularly televised games as another reason the 39-year old Brady would find Dallas an attractive landing spot.
If Romo’s latest back injury truly is the death knell of his career and Prescott starts to look shaky, the Cowboys could certainly be in the market for a franchise quarterback who could win them a Super Bowl title right now.
Dallas had the same opportunity in 2012 when the Indianapolis Colts released future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. Yet, the Cowboys elected to stick with Romo under center. Manning choose to go to the Denver Broncos. Three years later the Broncos would go on to win a Super Bowl Championship while Dallas has had just one playoff appearance in that same span.
Obviously, this is a moot point unless Brady actually parts ways with the Patriots. But it’s an interesting question to entertain. If the Cowboys had a shot to land the four-time Super Bowl winner, considering his age and those players currently on Dallas’ depth chart, would Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones actually pull the trigger on Brady? Stranger things have happened in Dallas.
