Chiefs CB Commings revisits painful Charles move

Published Jun. 12, 2015 3:17 p.m. ET

One year ago, Jamaal Charles put a move on Sanders Commings that put him in the hospital.

The second-year cornerback had to repair a broken leg and a broken ego. He's focused only on returning to form for the Chiefs, and not on the juke that cut his 2014 short.

“I’m not holding back,’’ he told ESPN. “My position is all about having short memory. Those injuries are things of the past."

The Chiefs might disagree. The team was trying Commings at nickel corner at safety before Charles came at him with a stutter-step during last year's OTAs.

It would've been a highlight-reel play, save for the painful result. And Commings, who missed his rookie season with a broken collarbone, was forced to miss another season after the incredible juke.

It could end up deciding his career in Kansas City. The Chiefs have bolstered their secondary and might not view Commings in the same high regard as they once used to.
