Chicago Bears sign DB Martin and RB Thomas, waive three others
The Chicago Bears must have liked what they saw in safety Sherrod Martin and running back Daniel Thomas, both of whom were at the team's minicamp on a tryout basis this week. The Bears announced the signings of both veterans on Thursday.

Martin has familiarity with Bears head coach John Fox, dating back to his days with the Carolina Panthers. The 30-year-old defensive back spent last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing the entire 2013 season with a knee injury.
Thomas, 27, has spent each of his four NFL seasons in the Miami Dolphins running back rotation. He has accumulated nearly 2,000 yards from scrimmage, as well as 13 total touchdowns, during his professional career.
Both Martin (2009) and Thomas (2011) are former second-round draft picks.
The Bears made three other roster moves on Thursday, announcing the releases of kicker Jeremiah Detmer, quarterback Pat Devlin and tight end Jacob Maxwell.
