Cardinals sign ILB Desmond Bishop to 1-year deal
The Arizona Cardinals have signed inside linebacker Desmond Bishop to a one-year contract.
Bishop, entering his eighth NFL season, played in four games for the Minnesota Vikings last year, one as a starter, before his season was ended by a knee injury. He spent his first six NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
In 2011, Bishop had a career-high 142 tackles, 109 solo, and five sacks. He started on the Packers' Super Bowl championship team in the 2010 season. For his career, Bishop has played in 73 games, 23 as a starter, with 318 tackles, 230 solo, nine sacks, seven forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception.
Bishop has played both inside and outside linebacker. Coach Bruce Arians says the Cardinals will use him as an inside linebacker.
