Buffalo Bills fans step up to help retired LB Darryl Talley

Buffalo Bills fans are coming up big to show their support for former star defender Darryl Talley.

On Thursday, a story in The Buffalo News detailed the physical, mental and financial problems the retired linebacker has faced since the end of his NFL career. In response, a fan launched a crowdfunding effort to help Talley, and the effort has raised more than $60,000 of its $100,000 goal as of 4:15 p.m. ET on Friday.

"Darryl is the proudest of men and it took a lot for him to even admit publicly that he needed help," reads the appeal on the GoFundMe site. "For 12 years he circled the wagons for us, now it's time for Bills' fans to return the favor for our favorite son."

Wrote one donor: "Thank you for everything Darryl. You gave your heart to us, so now it's time for us to give our heart to you! Good luck to you and your family!"
