Browns' Taylor 'itching to get back'

Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor says he's ''itching to get back'' after undergoing surgery to repair a chest muscle he injured while lifting weights.

Taylor tore a pectoral muscle last month while bench pressing. He's hoping to play this season but said he's not rushing back, heeding the advice of Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson, who twice sustained the same injury and missed most of two seasons.

Taylor said Tuesday he's currently limited to range-of-motion exercises and cardio workouts. He hasn't put any timetable on his return, saying ''when I'm back, I'm back. When I think I'm ready to play, I'll be out there.''

Taylor visited with former Baylor teammate Robert Griffin III, the Redskins' quarterback who was at the Browns' facility to participate in an NFL-sponsored youth football clinic with NFC players.
