Browns hire Jamil Northcutt to front-office spot
CLEVELAND (AP) The Browns have hired Dr. Jamil Northcutt as their new director of player engagement.
Northcutt spent the past six years as assistant athletics director for internal operations at Mississippi. He also spent three years working for the Kansas City Chiefs as their player development coordinator.
Northcutt replaces former Cleveland tight end Aaron Shea, who spent three years as player engagement director before he was fired last month.
Browns general manager Ray Farmer worked with Northcutt in Kansas City. He said Northcutt is ''the kind of person we want representing our organization. He's an all-around Browns fit. The core of the man is excellence.''
Northcutt played football at Ole Miss and has three degrees from the university.
