Browns claim offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper off waivers

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:50 p.m. ET

BEREA, Ohio (AP) The Browns have claimed offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper, a former first-round pick, off waivers from New England.

Cooper was selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2013 draft by Arizona. He played in 24 games for the Cardinals before he was traded to the Patriots in March.

The 6-foot-2, 302-pounder sustained a foot injury in training camp and was inactive for the first four games. The Patriots waived him on Saturday when the team activated quarterback Tom Brady and defensive end Rob Ninkovich, who were coming back from suspensions.

The Browns also placed center Austin Reiter on injured reserve. He tore a knee ligament while starting on Oct. 2 at Washington.
