Brandin Cooks shows playmaking abilities, starts 2015 with a bang

Published Aug. 14, 2015 1:11 p.m. ET

After a strong preseason and a whole lot of hype surrounding him, Brandin Cooks did nothing to quiet that hype in the Saints' first preseason game of 2015. While Cooks originally hauled in a 35-yard touchdown from Luke McCown, it was unfortunately nullified due to Cooks stepping out of bounds, as Mike Triplett of ESPN reported.

That apparently didn't matter though, as Cooks scored just four plays later, on a quick screen pass that left fans in awe.

Cooks' touchdown was an impressive, 28-yard score, but he was quick to put the praise on his teammates, not himself.

“To be honest, [McCown] threw a good ball and everybody blocked for me,” Cooks said. “All I had to do was just run straight to score. It was a great call by coach. All I had to do was catch and run.”

Fans and coaches love what Cooks brings to the table, and there's no reason to think that he can lead the way in this powerful offense in 2015.
