Bomar arrested on DUI charge

Published Aug. 7, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Rhett Bomar was arrested Sunday in Mankato, Minn., accused of drunken driving, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

The 26-year-old, who was signed off the New York Giants practice squad in December, was taken to Blue Earth County Jail early Sunday morning and released by evening.

Bomar, a fifth-round pick in the 2009 Draft, has a struggle on his hands to make the Vikings roster, playing behind Donovan McNabb, Christian Ponder and Joe Webb.

The Vikings said they would not be making a comment on the incident Sunday.
