Bills WR Johnson uncertain to play against Bengals

Published Oct. 9, 2013 4:13 p.m. ET

Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson missed practice because of a back injury and after being excused following a death in his family.

Coach Doug Marrone said Wednesday that Johnson is expected to rejoin the team before the end of the week. The back injury, however, leaves Johnson's playing status uncertain for Sunday's game against Cincinnati (3-2).

Johnson did not return after being hurt in the first half of a 37-24 loss at Cleveland on Thursday. He leads the team with 254 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

The Bills (2-3) have a chance of welcoming back rookie receiver Marquise Goodwin. He's been out since breaking a bone in his right hand in a season-opening loss to New England. Goodwin began practicing last week.
