Bengals' Adam Jones fined $35K for helmet slam, plans to appeal
Bengals corner Adam Jones told reporters Wednesday that he was fined $35,000 for his helmet slam on Raiders rookie receiver Amari Cooper in Oakland on Sunday.
Jones said the fine was "way too much for a football play," according to Jeremy Rauch of FOX 19 Cincinnati.
Adam Jones: "Go ahead. Ask me! Yeah, I got fined. 35K. Way too much for a football play. I'll appeal." #Bengals @FOX19

Full context on Adam Jones, did say he's learned from his actions. Wouldn't talk about what led to his actions with Amari Cooper. #Bengals

It also sounds as if Jones believes the incident has been blown out of proportion because of his history in the league. Jones also added that he can't promise that it won't happen again because he's an "emotional player."

Jones also took to Instagram to announce his fine, saying he received a letter indicating the amount was "35 racks."
Jones ripped off Cooper's helmet after wrestling him to the ground, then slammed his head down into the helmet while he was on top of the receiver (you can see the play here). He only received a 15-yard personal foul penalty, and he claimed after the game that he was retaliating for a punch to his throat.
