Bears hire Dave Ragone as QB coach

The Chicago Bears have filled a pivotal peg in their coaching staff by hiring Dave Ragone as the team's new quarterbacks coach.

Via Zach Zaidman of the Bears Radio Network:

Ragone, 36, assumes Dowell Loggains' old role. Loggains was promoted to offensive coordinator earlier this month, after Adam Gase -- the man who held that position before him -- was hired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

Ragone, who played quarterback at Louisville and was a third-round draft pick in 2003, first worked with Loggains on Mike Munchak's Tennessee Titans staff. He was a wide receivers coach from 2011-2012, then he was promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2013. He last served as an offensive quality control coach for the Washington Redskins.

The key to Ragone's success will be to keep quarterback Jay Cutler's play as clean as possible. Cutler flaunted a career-best passer rating of 92.3 in 2015, after throwing only 11 interceptions.
