The Chicago Bears have claimed former Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Matt McCants off of waivers.

On November 26, the Oakland Raiders promoted both LB Tyrell Adams and DE James Cowser to the 53-man roster. The corresponding transactions were the releases of TE Ryan O’Malley, as well as OT Matt McCants.

McCants was claimed two days later by the Cleveland Browns. And on December 9th, he was released without ever playing a snap.

Now, McCants has been claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears, as a corresponding move to them placing tackle Mike Adams on injured reserve.

McCants spent 2013 through the majority of 2016 with the Raiders. He never stood out, but he was a quality reserve who deserves to be on an NFL roster somewhere. So hopefully he can find a home and stick.
