Auction site pulls Jim Brown's championship ring off the block

Lelands.com auction site has decided to pull the Jim Brown 1964 championship ring from an upcoming auction, NJ.com reported.

The ring has been the center of controversy since the Cleveland Browns legend said it was stolen.

Lelands said it had gotten the ring from a family member and was going to sell it. However, the auction house reversed field in a statement posted on its site:

Jim Brown's 1964 NFL Championship Ring is being withdrawn from the auction. While we regret this controversy with Mr. Brown, who we personally admire as a great athlete, his claims are entirely without merit and we intend to vigorously defend against them. The provenance and chain of title for the ring are indisputable. After a successful resolution of this matter, we will sell the ring at one of our future auctions.
