The Atlanta Falcons locked up one of their most promising young defensive linemen when end Kroy Biermann agreed to a new three-year contract on Wednesday, FOXSports.com has learned.

Biermann, a fifth-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, has been an up-and-coming player in the Falcons’ defensive line rotation and also is a key special teams contributor. He has played in 64 NFL games with 17 starts; 14 of those starts came in 2010 when the Falcons were the NFC South champions.

Reality TV fans may know Biermann best as the husband of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak. The two married during the NFL lockout in 2011 and have a son together.

The new deal is believed to be in the $10 to $12 million range.
