Despite only one appearance in the preseason due to a knee injury, Nelson Spruce earned a spot on the 53-man roster for the Los Angeles Rams.

With all of the favorites fighting for a roster spot on the Los Angeles Rams, the argument can be made that no player won the hearts of fans more than wide receiver Nelson Spruce. Many wondered if the Rams would end up keeping Spruce on board despite appearing in just one preseason game, but it looks like his his one appearance was enough to convince Jeff Fisher to keep him on the roster.

As NFL teams begin trimming down their roster before Saturday’s deadline, Spruce received the good news about earning a spot for the 2016 season. While it’s tough to make a decision based off one game, the move to keep Spruce means one of two things: Spruce made that much of an impression in one preseason game and Los Angeles has a weak receiving corps.

Nothing against Spruce as Rams fans should be excited about having the rookie on board, but it’s uncommon for most teams to keep an undrafted free agent rookie based off one performance. Fans were originally crushed to hear Spruce would miss a few weeks after suffering a knee sprain against the Dallas Cowboys in the preseason opener and now that he’s going to be part of the roster for the 2016 season, fans have even more of a reason to be excited about the wideout’s potential.

Nobody could have predicted Spruce would catch six passes for 51 yards with one touchdown against Dallas and when looking at the depth behind Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt, don’t be surprised if the former Colorado star finds a way to make an impact as a No. 3 or No. 4 wideout for Los Angeles.
