After win, Miami's Bush calls out Jets
The New York Jets are taking their lumps these days, and opposing teams are more than willing to pile on after laying the smack down on Rex Ryan's boisterous bunch.
The latest player to come after the Jets is Dolphins running back Reggie Bush, whose team throttled the Jets in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon, cruising to an easy 30-9 victory at MetLife Stadium.
Bush and the Jets traded verbal barbs throughout the week, and, according to a Newsday report, Bush was able to revel in the smackdown on Sunday afternoon.
"It's very satisfying," Bush told Newsday. "It's as good as it gets. We knew we wanted to jump on them early, and I think we were able to accomplish that. I think once we got them early, they kind of laid down a little bit."
The issues started after the Dolphins' 23-20 loss to the Jets earlier this season, when the veteran running back commented on Darrelle Revis' season-ending injury, saying "what goes around, comes around."
Ryan called on Bush to apologize for those comments earlier in the week. On the other end of the spectrum, LaRon Landry and Aaron Maybin all but threatened to attempt to injure Bush. On Sunday, Antonio Cromartie even head-butted Bush, resulting in a 15-yard penalty.
In the end, Bush and the Dolphins got the resounding last word.
This isn't the first time the Jets' desire and commitment has been challenged, either. San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers accused the Jets of quitting after the Niners' 34-0 blowout of the Jets earlier this month.
"Yeah, you could see it happening," Rogers told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Oct. 3. "It kind of shocked me because a lot of guys on [our] sideline were saying, 'They don't want to tackle, they don't want to do this, they don't want to do that.' "
He continued: "That's a Rex Ryan defense. That's a Rex Ryan team. ... And his defense, you know, plays throughout. That was the shocking point about it."
The Jets are now in last place in the AFC East with a 3-5 record.
