7 ugliest NFL Color Rush uniforms

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – NOVEMBER 12: Quarterback Tyrod Taylor
For the second straight season, NFL teams will be sporting Color Rush uniforms during Thursday Night Football. Which jerseys are the ugliest?
After introducing “Color Rush’ uniforms for Thursday Night Football last season, the NFL announced that they will be brought back for this season.
The jerseys got mixed reviews last season. Some teams just have the right color scheme to make them work. And with proper execution, they can be done very well.
Some teams, however, are strapped with an unfortunate mixture of colors that make these jerseys just look downright ugly.
Nonetheless, the jerseys are a nice little change-up from the norm. It’s something different … and something else the NFL can sell that they won’t have to pay taxes on. But that’s a whole different story.
Coming from 2015 to 2016, some teams made big changes, some made small, and some made absolutely none at all (no rhyme intended; I’m not a rapper).

There were some real winners–check out the Broncos, Chargers and Rams.
But there were also some major losers. Let’s get to the bashing!

Cincinnati Bengals
You would think with half of the phrase “Color Rush” being “color,” white would be excluded.
The Cincinnati Bengals, though, will be sporting this hideous white uni with some black on the shoulders.
This jersey is just boring. The dominant white look could work if they did more than add some black slash marks on the shoulders and sides of the pants.
Also, it doesn’t mix well with their usual helmet, which is all orange and black.
Some white jerseys from this round of Color Rush work, like the Giants, Cowboys and Saints. But, unfortunately, the Bengals will look mighty inferior to the Miami Dolphins on Sep. 29–at least in terms of attire.
And, it was rather cruel of the NFL to make Cincinnati face Miami–another team with orange in its color scheme–on Thursday night. They could have come up with something much better if they faced a team with some more contrast to their colors.
With that in mind, I do understand why the Bengals’ unis have to be white here. But it doesn’t make them any prettier.
Here’s how the two team’s uniforms will look next to each other.

It’s too bad this game is not in Miami, because boy, under those lights, these things would shine.
Still, I will probably spend more time trying to figure out the jerseys than actually watching the game.
It’s red vs. white this time around. #ColorRush #NYJvsBUF

Buffalo Bills
The Bills have brought back their Color Rush unis from last year, and, uh, why did they do that?
These things are just simply not attractive. The all-red look, which some other teams will be sporting this season, is just not a good one for the Bills.
With something like this, you would hope the design team could get a little more creative and not just copy and paste from last year. I understand they can only do so much with a certain amount of colors available to use, but they could have done more than this.
This mediocre look will do a proper job of representing how good this team is, at least. Maybe that’s what they were going for.
Buffalo will be facing the Jets once again this season, but New York will be switching it up, going from all green to a dominant white color.
Their look isn’t anything too spectacular. In fact, it’s really just a basic look that they could sport on a Sunday. But, in this instance, at least it’s different from last season.
The Jets’ change was actually made after last season’s disaster with color blind fans, who couldn’t distinguish the difference between the teams due to their red and green jerseys.
Buffalo came out on top last season, but if how good they look has any effect, the Jets may take this one.

New England Patriots
New England won’t only be without quarterback Tom Brady in their Week 3 Thursday Night bout with the Houston Texans. They will look ugly.
Their Color rush unis, sported by tight end Rob Gronkowski, are dominantly a deep navy blue color with red and white stripes on the sleeves.
The jerseys don’t necessarily look bad, but like the Bengals, it’s just not anything too great to look at. It’s boring.
I won’t complain too much because thanks to the Patriots colors, we won’t get these awful uniforms from the Texans.

I understand that whoever is behind the Texans’ Twitter account has to act like these jerseys are ‘fire,’ but they are definitely not.
We will instead be getting another all-white look from the Texans, which will actually contrast nicely with the Patriots’ unis.
I just wish the Patriots could have given us more here. Maybe in the future the designers behind these can ditch the solid color look and get creative with each team, because I am imagining Gronk running down the field in a jersey that resembles the American flag and it is glorious.
So again, this jersey doesn’t do much for me. Luckily for the Patriots, they could be wearing diapers and a trash bag and still dominate the game, so I don’t think the look will affect their play too much.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs went through an awesome re-brand in 2014 which included getting new jerseys. If only the design on their Color Rush jerseys was as good.
Like the Bills, this all-red look is just not good. It’s lazy, and they have nothing else throughout the entire uniform that really stands out and compliments the red.
Tampa Bay is lucky to have a cool helmet and some nice silver for the lettering and numbers, otherwise this uniform would be a complete throw-away.
This uniform isn’t as bad as the one the Bills will sport, in my opinion, as the darker shade of red for the Buccaneers is a lot more aesthetically pleasing.
But it still doesn’t get a pass.
Like a lot of these Color Rush unis, it is lazy and not very creative. I wish I didn’t have to say it as often as I have, but there is nothing else to it: Not much work was put into some of the jerseys on this list.
Tampa Bay will be facing off against the Atlanta Falcons, who also lucked out thanks to who they are facing. Because of the Bucs’ look, we will see more of a Sunday uniform instead of this headache.

Our eyes were saved from some major torture.
Still, we have to look at the Bucs’ jerseys, so it is not a win-win.

Oakland Raiders
For their Dec. 8 match-up with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Raiders will be throwing it back with their Color Rush uniform. Unlike the Broncos, however, this throwback is not one to be excited about.
This throwback is a white jersey with gray lettering and pants, topped off with the usual gray helmet. They wore these in their AFL days.
I am really not a fan of the whole white and gray mix. It is all too light. Oakland should stand out as a team this season, but against the Chiefs on Thursday Night, they will surely blend in.
They saved themselves with these technically being throwbacks, so it is hard to say they are not creative. That doesn’t mean they aren’t boring, though.
Kansas City’s look isn’t any better, as it just their normal jersey with red pants.

It is a better look than the Bills and Bucs, though, and is certainly not one of the ugliest in the league.
The Raiders, however, aren’t safe in that department.
Just making the lettering black instead of gray would have gone a long way, but hey, can’t mess with the throwbacks!
To any and all NFL teams out there: Just because it is a throwback does not mean fans will like it.

Jacksonville Jaguars
Ah, the return of the poopy brown Color Rush jerseys.
I will give the Jaguars’ Thursday Night jerseys this: They are unique. No one is debating that. But, wow, these things are just as ugly as last year.
For some reason, I was a fan of these last year. That was probably before I saw them on the field.
What I do like about these uniforms is how the colors mix with the helmets. The gold (poopy brown) matches perfectly with the gold on the helmet, and the matte black goes great with it. The helmets have never been a problem though. Going back to last season, the jerseys are still a mess.
Also like last season, the Jags will be squaring off against the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 27.

I am a fan of Tennessee’s jersey, which goes powder blue throughout the entire uniform. It certainly will clash against Jacksonville’s Color Rush unis on Thursday Night.
While the Jaguars’ uni is horrendously ugly, it is not the ugliest out there, believe it or not.

Seattle Seahawks
And coming in with the ugliest NFL Color Rush jersey of them all, the Seattle Seahawks!
These things are just very, very interesting. Like the Jaguars, I can’t take away points for uniqueness. These will stand out, that’s not a question. But it does not make them any prettier whatsoever.
Some people may like these, but I just am not a fan of the bright green here. A lot of super bright, neon colors won’t pass in my book. I made an exception to the Dolphins bright orange look, but I can’t say the same for the Seahawks, unfortunately.
That blueish-gray Seahawks color that they wear on their helmets and numbers usually looks nice, but it doesn’t really mesh well with the green. The jersey and helmet combo doesn’t look right at all. I’m not sure what they were going for here.
These jerseys will certainly look strange next to the Rams’ unis, which are more of the Sunday look. I still wish the Rams went all-out and wore the gold jerseys.

That would have been quite the scene.
After seeing these uniforms, I’m not really sure whether I will be marking my calendar for Dec. 15.
