50 thoughts on Pro Bowl roster announcement

Maybe you weren't aware that the NFL announced its Pro Bowl rosters on Friday at 9 p.m. ET.

If you missed which players will be a part of the league'€™s Pro Bowl Draft on Jan. 22, dig in here. If you have an appetite for some knee-jerk reaction, you came to the right place.

Here are 50 thoughts on the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl roster:

1.  The league'€™s highest-rated passer, Nick Foles, was not named to the Pro Bowl.

2.  No Giants, Packers, Falcons, Jaguars or Jets were selected to the Pro Bowl.

3.  ... and the Packers can win the NFC North on Sunday.

4.  The Chiefs and 49ers tied for the most, getting eight players to the Pro Bowl.

5.  Alterraun Verner made the most of his free-agent season. He'€™ll break the bank in March.

6.  Remember when Philip Rivers needed to be "fixed"? Give him the Comeback Player of the Year award.

7.  Peyton Manning received the most votes (1.43 million) among fans. Drew Brees wasn't far behind (1.2 million).

8.  Seriously, does it really matter who Tom Brady is throwing the ball to? That'€™s trip number nine for the Patriots QB.

9.  Russell Wilson was asked if he would consider changing his position at the 2012 NFL Combine. Now, he'€™s a Pro Bowler.

10. Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders will draft their respective teams on Jan. 22.

11. Matthew Stafford has a worse completion percentage (58.1) than 30 other quarterbacks. Fortunately, they got it right. Cam Newton received the honor over Lions QB.

12. Throwing to the likes of Coby Fleener and T.Y. Hilton, Andrew Luck misses out on second Pro Bowl appearance

13. Drew Brees ranks just behind Rivers as the most accurate quarterback in the league.

14. Players on winning team will earn $53,000 while losers will get $26,000, under new CBA.

15. Cowboys DT Jason Hatcher was the centerpiece of Dallas' defense. That'€™s probably why he didn'€™t make the cut.

16. LeSean McCoy, on pace to win NFL rushing title, will make second Pro Bowl appearance.

17. Jamaal Charles is just 20 yards shy of breaking 2,000 yards from scrimmage. The Chiefs running back makes his fourth Pro Bowl squad.

18. Eddie Lacy, Alfred Morris, DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews finished in the top 10 in rushing and didn’t make the cut.

NOTE: Lacy named as first alternate.

19. Murray leads the league in yards per carry (5.4) with at least 200 attempts.

20. Adrian Peterson has made the Pro Bowl every year in his career other than 2011 (torn ACL).

21. Marshawn Lynch has run for more yards over the last three seasons (3,954) than he did in his first five years (3,338). The 12th man salutes you.

22. Matt Forte'€™s accumulated 1,776 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns earned him a trip to Honolulu.

23. Fullback Mike Tolbert scored five times in 2013 and paved the way for DeAngelo Williams (810 yards) in Carolina.

24. Josh Gordon leads all WRs in receiving yards (1,564) despite a two-game suspension.

25. Jordy Nelson was on the other end of a lot of Matt Flynn-passes and still put up 1,153 yards and eight touchdowns. Give the man some credit.

26. Calvin Johnson reportedly finished fifth in fan voting for the Pro Bowl.

27. The Steelers announced Antonio Brown as the team'€™s MVP Thursday morning. The Central Michigan alum will be snacking on pineapple in January

28. A.J. Green has twice as many receiving yards (1,365) than any other receiver on the Bengals. Three Pro Bowls in three years.

29. Alshon Jeffery has more receptions and yards than Dez Bryant, but was left off the list.

30. Demaryius Thomas leads all NFL wide receivers in yards after catch (633). His 12 touchdowns helped him make his case as a Pro Bowl receiver.

31. Pierre Garcon leads the NFL in receptions and was didn'€™t see his name on the NFL Network ticker.

32. Jimmy Graham, who is two touchdowns shy of Rob Gronkowski'€™s record for most TDs in a season by a tight end, makes the cut.

33. Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten weren'€™t named to the Pro Bowl.

34. Jordan Cameron and Julius Thomas were.

35. Joe Thomas joins elite group of 10 NFL players who made the Pro Bowl in at least their first seven seasons, according to Cleveland Plain Dealer.

36. Joe Staley named to the Pro Bowl team for the third consectutive season.

37. The Chargers allowed another Pro Bowler to walk last offseason. Louis Vasquez signed a four-year deal with Denver last March. He made the Pro Bowl team in December

38.  Robert Quinn has more sacks this year (18.0) than his first two seasons combined (15.5).

39.  In his 11th season, Troy Polamalu was named as a Pro Bowl strong safety.

40. Rex Ryan lobbied for Jets DT Muhammad Wilkerson to make Pro Bowl. It didn't work. Well, at least not yet.

41. Kyle Williams, Jurrell Casey and Wilkerson lead interior linemen with 10.5 sacks. Only Williams will travel to Hawaii.

42. Speaking of interior lineman, Haloti Ngata snuck in despite one of his least productive seasons.

43. Dolphins DE Olivier Vernon has more sacks and tackles than Panthers DE Greg Hardy. Hardy was chosen over Vernon.

44. Lavonte David ranks fifth in the NFL in tackles (137) and didn'€™t make the team.

45. Vontaze Burfict makes the least ($480,000) of all Pro Bowl players, according to Spotrac.com.

46. Rams punter Johnny Hekker is next by making only $483,000.

47. Darrelle Revis tore his ACL, was traded to the Bucs and then made his fifth Pro Bowl all within 15 months.

48. Richard Sherman received 552,600 votes by fans, the most for any defensive player, according to AP.

49. Sherman will make his first Pro Bowl appearance. Doesn'€™t it seem like he's been around for a while?

50. Ndamukong Suh will receive $1 million bonus for Pro Bowl selection, according to AP.
