San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has put his San Jose home on the market. Despite claiming this decision simply manifests an investment decision, it could be yet another sign that Kaepernick wants out of San Francisco.
Colin Kaepernick has put his $2.895 million San Jose house on the market. The San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback claimed, through a 49ers team spokesperson, that selling the house is simply an “investment decision.”
Usually investment decisions consist of purchasing property rather than selling, unless one thinks the market is about to turn down. Whatever Kaepernick may think of the current Bay Area real estate market, his decision to sell now remains highly suspicious.
Kaepernick has actually played somewhat decently the last couple of weeks. Despite missing a number of throws — and a seemingly open Carlos Hyde on the last play of the Miami Dolphins loss last Sunday (watch the replay, you’ll see what I mean) — his stats have improved significantly since his first start of the season.
Despite not winning a game, this improvement could lend itself to a better NFL free agency period than expected a few weeks ago. Hence, Kaepernick, who has a player-option for next season, may be looking elsewhere to further his football career.
Why else would he sell his home?

I’m sorry, Kaepernick, but I’m not buying the “investment decision” explanation, at least not if you’re planning on staying in the Bay Area.
Only time will tell what Kaepernick’s true motives are. It seems more than possible, however, that Kap may be planning his escape from San Francisco.
