The San Francisco 49ers have selected offensive lineman Jason Slowey of Western Oregon in the sixth round of the NFL draft.
Slowey's selection at 199th overall adds depth to an offensive line that prides itself on power running and zone blocking. He played left tackle for most of his career at Western Oregon but is projected at center or guard in the NFL.
And that's exactly where the defending NFC West champion 49ers need help.
San Francisco lost guard Adam Snyder to Arizona in free agency, so Slowey could shift to either interior spot. The Niners also traded up earlier in the day to draft guard Joe Looney of Wake Forest in the fourth round.
