2026 Super Bowl Odds: Bills Closing In On Rams

The Rams entered the 2026 season as heavy favorites to win the Super Bowl at +500. But after a 27-7 blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia, their Super Bowl odds have taken a dip. 

The 20-point defeat marked the largest Week 1 loss by a preseason Super Bowl favorite in recorded history, with odds data available for the past 50 seasons.

Over the past 30 years, the preseason Super Bowl favorite has entered the season at +500 or shorter 20 times. None of those 20 teams went on to win the Super Bowl.

Trouble In L.A.?: A 20-point defeat in Week 1 isn't the least of the Rams' problems, but there is now another problem that's taken precedent — Myles Garrett is hurt. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee and will miss at least the next four games on injured reserve. Compound that with the fact that Aaron Donald did not play in Week 1 as he gets back into playing shape after returning from a two-year retirement, and the Rams' superstar defensive line is nowhere near what many dreamed it would be — at least not yet.

Booming In Buffalo: The Bills opened their new stadium in style in the Week 2 Thursday night game, taking it to Detroit in front of the Buffalo home crowd. Josh Allen was Superman, recording five total touchdowns (three passing, two rushing). He now has nine TDs and no turnovers on the season. The Bills are 2-0 and have put up 77 total points on the Texans and the Lions. They next get the Chargers and Patriots at home. Is 4-0 inevitable?

Chiefs Inevitable: Speaking of inevitability, last season was the worst of the Patrick Mahomes era, as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time with him as their starting quarterback. Many wondered whether it marked the end of a dynasty that won three Super Bowls in five years. But the Chiefs remain inevitable. They opened the 2026 season with a 31-10 blowout win over a Broncos team that won 13 games last year. Travis Kelce passed Jason Witten for the second-most receiving yards by a tight end in NFL history, while Kenneth Walker rushed for a career-high in his Chiefs debut. Walker also recorded the most rushing yards in a team debut since Michael Turner joined the Falcons in 2008 and the most scrimmage yards by a running back in a game started by Mahomes. Watch out.
