Jason Day explains why he didn't protect his wife from LeBron James
Last month, the wife of PGA golfer Jason Day, Ellie, had the worst possible scenario happen to someone sitting courtside at an NBA game.
LeBron James, all 6-foot-8 and 260 pounds of him, came barreling toward the sideline in pursuit of a loose basketball during a game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers -- and the basketball superstar trucked Ellie, knocking her backwards off her chair with a jarring blow.
She was taken off on a stretcher and suffered concussion symptoms, although thankfully she ended up being OK. Here's the video if you missed it:

Once the clip started making the rounds on social media, Jason Day started catching a lot of heat for the way he bailed out and leaned the other way, seeming to leave his poor wife to fend for herself in LeBron's path. Pundits ridiculously crushed Day for not protecting his wife better, as if his natural split-second reaction completely explains how much love he has for his spouse.
Well, Jason Day had an opportunity to explain himself this week while preparing to play at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Here's what he said, courtesy of the Golf Channel:
