It looks like LeBron unfollowed the Cavs on Twitter

Published Mar. 21, 2016 5:40 p.m. ET

At this point, we can only assume that LeBron James has dedicated his life to the art of trolling.

What other explanation is there for Monday's social media explosion, as the world quickly realized that The King doesn't follow the Cavs on Twitter?

No, seriously. Go check for yourself. As of the time of this writing, the Cleveland Cavaliers are not among James' Twitter follows.

Now, we can't confirm with 100 percent certainty that James previously followed the Cavs. Luckily, we have the Internet, which has sites such as doesfollow.com:

Note the line that states a change in following status on March 21 -- today. And according to the denizens of the web, James doesn't follow the Cavs on Instagram, either.

So the way we see it, there are a few options here:

1. James never followed the Cavaliers, and the "doesfollow.com" picture is meaningless.

2. James is just the biggest troll ever, and he realized Monday was a little slow and wanted to send the Internet into a tizzy.

3. Someone hacked LeBron and unfollowed the Cavs.

4. LeBron's (hypothetical) social media manager is dealing in some sabotage.

5. James followed the Cavs, got upset about something, and decided to send a message by unfollowing their account.

Maybe this was the tweet that sent James over the edge?

Because of course the Cavs' most recent game (and loss) came against the Miami Heat. The universe would have it no other way when it comes to James' trolling.

Again, perhaps this is all a big misunderstanding. Maybe James never followed the Cavs. After all, Kobe Bryant doesn't follow the Lakers.

... wait, but we already knew Bryant wouldn't be with L.A. next year. IS THIS A SIGN FOR LEBRON?!
