Hassan Whiteside is having an even more historic season than we thought
Hassan Whiteside seems like he's pulling down every rebound and swatting every possible shot this season. The Heat center, who leads the leads the NBA in blocks and sits fourth in rebounds, has become one of the NBA's most prominent stat compilers over the course of his first full season in Miami.
But did you realize Whiteside was putting up rebounding and shot blocking numbers which haven't been posted in conjunction in years? From Basketball-Reference:
Hassan Whiteside is on pace to be the only player since 1973 w/a 20+ TRB% & 10+ BLK% season https://t.co/6DuosKDlnA pic.twitter.com/cYXqFcVuif

Whiteside's 22.1 percent rebound rate (meaning he grabs 22.1 percent of available boards when he's on the floor) ranks second in the NBA only to Andre Drummond's 24.1 figure. He's a tenth of a percentage point ahead of DeAndre Jordan.
Meanwhile, his 10.5 percent block rate is almost five percentage points better than that of Jordan, who is second in the league. It would be the highest single-season block rate since Manute Bol's 10.8 percent in 1988-89.
