Tomas Scheckter ready for Indy

IndyCar veteran Tomas Scheckter will drive for KV Racing Technology-SH Racing in this year's Indianapolis 500.

Scheckter will be make his 10th consecutive Indy 500 start in the No. 07 Team Redline Xtreme car for the 100th edition of IndyCar's biggest race.

SH Racing formed in August and collaborated with KV Racing in October to field a car in the May 29 race, a collaboration similar to the partnership between Kingdom Racing and de Ferran Dragon Racing for part-time driver Davey Hamilton in last year's Indy 500.

''Scheckter embodies everything we were looking for in a pilot for the Team Redline Xtreme entry,'' SH Racing principal James Sullivan said. ''Scheckter and our organization have gelled from Day 1 and I could not be more pleased to have him in the seat.''

Scheckter, 30, was the Indy 500's co-rookie of the race in 2002 after leading 85 laps, the first of three races at the Brickyard he's led for a total of 153 laps. The South African had a best finish of fourth in 2003 for Target Chip Ganassi Racing and was seventh in 2007 with Vision Racing.

Scheckter will be KV Racing's fourth driver at the Indy 500, joining full-time drivers Tony Kanaan, Takuma Sato and E.J. Viso.

''I am jacked to announce that I'll will be driving the Redline Xtreme machine for the Indy 500,'' Scheckter said. ''I had been speaking with SH Racing for about six months and when I found out they were partnered with KV Racing Technology, I knew this was the complete package.''
