Let’s face it: If you’re not a young player fighting for a roster spot, MLB Spring Training can be a bit tedious at times.

The New York Yankees have one of the oldest rosters in the league, so they’re certainly aware of that fact. Fortunately, they’ve found a pretty awesome way to pass the time.

A few members of the Bronx Bombers recently decided to pay tribute to a classic scene from an iconic 1993 baseball movie: “The Sandlot.”

While nothing can match the original clip of Scotty Smalls realizing he scuffed up a ball signed by Babe Ruth, that was quite the valiant effort.

Brett Gardner’s Smalls impression is solid, as is Jacoby Ellsbury’s “Squints” impersonation, but we’ve got to give the best acting award to Brian McCann as Ham Porter (with an honorable mention to Didi Gregorious as Tommy “Repeat” Timmons).

If you think this crew nailed it on their first try, though, you’re sorely mistaken. Take a look at the videos.
