Tim Tebow injures knee attempting slide during Arizona Fall League game
New York Mets outfielder Tim Tebow was removed from Monday's Arizona Fall League game in the bottom of the fourth inning with what is reported by MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo as a right knee injury.
Tebow had reached on a fielder's choice and then attempted to steal his second base of the Fall League. He was thrown out by Orioles catcher Austin Wynns and slid awkwardly into second base. Tebow popped up holding his right leg. He walked off on his own gingerly and was replaced in left field by the Phillies' Aaron Brown. He went to have his knee checked out by a doctor, with the expectation that more would be known following the examination.
Tebow had singled to right-center field in his first at-bat of the Scottsdale Scorpions' game against the Peoria Javelinas, giving him a hit in three straight games. He is now 5-for-34 (.147) with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in 10 AFL games.
While the severity of the injury is yet to be determined, neither the Mets nor the Scottsdale Scorpions have said if an X-ray/MRI examination will be required.
